Alvin V. Parnett of Stahlman Place, died December 7, 2012 at The Thompson House, Rhinebeck. He was 86. A native and lifelong Kingston resident, he was a son of the late Isadore and Anna Yacoff Parnett. Al graduated Kingston High School and SUNY Fredonia. A veteran of WW II, he served in the US Army in Italy in Field Artillery. Al was a Systems Administrator for I.B.M. He started in Poughkeepsie in 1951 and retired in Kingston in 1991. He belonged to the Quarter Century Club. A member of Temple Emanuel, Al was president of B'Nai Brith and served on board of Talmud Torah of Ahavath Israel and Agudas Achim. He was president of "I.I.I." (Interracial, Interethnic, Interfaith) in Kingston. Beloved husband of Tallulah "Tally" Langer Parnett who he married August 31, 1972 and his first wife Ella Fischl Parnett who died July 10, 1971; loving father of Mark Parnett and his wife Gwen of Ossining, Debra LaPadula and her husband Michael of Cortland Manor, Robyn Langer Hildred and her husband Harold of Kingston, Mindy Langer of Grayslake, Illinois and the late David Parnett; grandfather of Ellen and Ian Parnett, Eric, Sara and Elizabeth LaPadula; brother of Stanley Parnett and his wife Tobie of Princeton, NJ and the late Shirley Rafalowsky and Etta Schneider. Many nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday at 11:00 AM at Temple Emanuel, 243 Albany Ave., Kingston. Rabbi Yael Romer will officiate. Interment will follow in Montrepose Cemetery.
