Bernice Jurkowski, 82, of El Cajon, CA, formerly of St. Petersburg, FL and Kingston, NY, died Sunday, May 29, 2016 at the HealthAlliance Hospital Broadway Campus, following complications of a long illness, surrounded by her family and loved ones. Born in Kingston, she was the daughter of the late Angelo & Louise Naccarato Altomari. Bernice retired from IBM Kingston as an executive secretary in 1994. She enjoyed playing bingo but the love of her life was her family and being a grandmother and great grandmother. She was predeceased by her husband Edward Jurkowski in 2002. Bernice is survived by her children, Lisa Vasey and her husband Trevor of El Cajon, CA and her son Brian Jurkowski and his wife Georgette of Saugerties. Her sisters and brothers, Louise Clark of Port Ewen, Theresa Dachenhausen of Ruby, Barbara Bruno of St. Petersburg, FL, Carol Van Kleek of Kingston, Angelo "Bobby" Altomari of Watertown, CT and Michael Altomari of Leesburg, FL, two grandsons, Preston and Jacob Jurkowski, six great grandchildren, Zakary, Abigail, Nadia, Jakob, Kaylee and Olivia. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. In addition to her parents and husband, Bernice was predeceased by her sister, Dolores Cafaldo. A celebration of Bernice's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association, PO Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241-7005.
