Brian Peter Carroll died September 6th, in his beautiful, summer home in Laclede, Idaho, He was 77 and a resident of Boulder City, NV for 38 years. Born in Teaneck, NJ Brian would bicycle from Teaneck to the Teterboro Airfield, where he washed planes to earn flight time. Brian had earned his commercial pilot's license before he graduated high school. After finishing at Holy Trinity High School, in Hackensack, Brian headed out to St. Louis Missouri to attended Park Aeronautical College at the St. Louis University. Brian served in the Air National Guard before accepting employment with Pan American World Airways in 1956. By the late 1950's he was one of Pan Americans youngest navigators flying out of what is now called JFK International Airport. He piloted in six different continents for Pan Am and was one of the first to fly a Boeing 747. After working for Pam American for over 25 years he transferred to United Airlines, where he piloted to the most renowned countries and where he stayed until the end of his commercial flying career. Brian married his wife Shirley Slightom in 1955. Shortly after his employment with Pan American, they settled near to Kingston, NY, where he also operated the Carroll Air Service. Brian was a member of the Elks Lodge in Boulder City, where he would spend his winters. After his retirement he spent his summers in the Northern Panhandle of Idaho. Brian had two children. Jeffery Carroll who passed in 1970 at the age of 13, and Laura Jean who survives him. Brian and Shirley moved to Boulder City, Nevada in 1973. Shirley passed in 1983. He is also survived by his sister Mary Jane and an abundance of nieces and nephews, and countless friends scattered nationwide. Reposing at the Simpson Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Friday from 4:oo 8:00 p.m. A graveside service will be conducted by Fr. John Kearney at St. Anne's Cemetery, Sawkill on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
