Bruce K. Davis, 85, of Kingston, died Friday, May 04, 2012 at Kingston Hospital. Born in Kingston, he was a son of the late Clifford & Catherine Dunbar Davis. Bruce graduated from Kingston High School and Bryant and Stratton Commercial School of Boston. A proud veteran of WWII, he served in the US Navy aboard USS LSM 324 in the Pacific theatre. He was a 66 year, charter member of the American Legion Post 1298, Town of Esopus. Bruce was employed with IBM for 39 years in Poughkeepsie, Kingston and Fujisawa, Japan and after retirement for H&R Block. An avid sportsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and skiing in his beloved Catskill Mountains. He enjoyed bowling, softball, poker, travelling and even took on the challenge of playing the piano in his retirement years. Bruce was a passionate golfer and member of Wiltwyck Golf Club. He served on the board and participated in as many club functions as possible during his 49 years of membership. Bruce lived life well and it most certainly can be said that "he never met a stranger." He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Roberta Radel Davis of Kingston, four children, Leslie Davis of Kingston, Janetta Riffenburg (Michael) of Spartanburg, SC, Stephanie Preston (Keith) of Dalton, MA and Robert Davis (Jessica) of New Fairfield, CT, six grandchildren, Jason, Eric, Bradley, Alyssa, Alexander and Nathaniel, two great grandchildren, Corbin and Nathan, one brother, Clifford Davis of Lake Katrine, one brother-in law, Jack Radel (Jane) of Shokan, NY. Many cousins, nieces and nephews also survive. He was predeceased by his infant son, Gerard Alexander and brothers, Fred, Matthew and Paul. Reposing at the Simpson Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Monday, May 7, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9. The funeral procession will form on Tuesday from the funeral home at 9:00 AM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Church at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Town of Shandaken. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Spring Lake Fire Department, PO Box 3578 Kingston, NY 12402 or the Kingston Hospital Dialysis Centers, 37 Albany Avenue, Kingston. NY 12401.
