Carmela Viviani

Carmela Viviani, 81, of North Fort Myers, FL, died Monday, August 12, 2013 at Hope Hospice in Cape Coral, FL. Born in Naples, Italy, she was a daughter of the late Gennaro & Filomena Medaglia. She and her husband Alessandro founded the Villa Carmela Restaurant of Kingston in 1973 which they operated until they retired, splitting their time between Kingston and North Fort Myers. Carmela is survived by two children, Catello Viviani and his wife Sylvia of Kingston and Phyllis Hamor and her husband Mark of North Fort Myers, FL, three sisters, Rose DiVirigilio of New Hyde Park, NY, Anna Labbate and her husband Ben of San Diego, CA, Yolanda Viviani and her husband Antonio of Saugerties, three brothers, Louie Medaglia and his wife Julie of Accord, Vinny Medaglia of San Diego and Aldo Medaglia and his wife Josephine of Roslyn, NY, one sister in law, Maria Medaglia of Flushing, NY and brother in law Luigi Acampora of Astoria, NY. Four grandchildren, Carmela, Alex, Catherine, Joseph, one great grandson, Nico and many nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents, Carmela was predeceased by her husband Alessandro Viviani, who passed in 1997, one sister, Filomena Acampora, and one brother Tulio Medaglia. Reposing at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home on Friday, August 16, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral procession will form on Saturday from the funeral home at 9:00 AM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Church. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
