Dorothy Helen Shapiro

Dorothy H. Shapiro, of Stony Run Apartments died Friday, January 16, 2004 at Benedictine Hospital. She was 86. She was born in the Bronx on July 10, 1917, a daughter of the late Israel Edward and Cecelia Shattan Shapiro. Her family moved to this area when she was a child. For over 50 years Ms. Shapiro was involved with the family business: Shapiro’s Paint and Wallpaper on North Front Street. She retired in 1987 when the store closed. Her brother Norman Albert Shapiro died in 1991. Surviving are two brothers Ralph Shapiro and his wife Joanne of Lake Katrine and Joseph Shapiro and his wife Ruth of Vannuys, California; and several cousins. Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday at 12:30 PM at Simpson – Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. Rabbi Yael Romer will officiate. Interment will be at a later date in Montrepose Cemetery.
