Dr. Elizabeth J. Collins, 99, of Saugerties, died Wednesday, October 4, 2017. Born in Short Hills, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Joseph & Mary Lambert Collins. Elizabeth was one of the first females to graduate from Penn University in 1941 as a Veterinarian. Elizabeth worked in Manhattan then moved to Ulster County and owned The Kingston Animal Hospital until her retirement. Elizabeth enjoyed traveling the world, spending time with her beloved pets, and was an avid Mall Walker of Kingston. In addition to her parents, Elizabeth was predeceased by two sisters, Mary and Theresa, and one brother, Thomas. Elizabeth was surrounded by her closest friends, Glenn Kuriplach, Jamie Thompson, Linda and Victor Albright and George and Cathy Dimler. Elizabeth was a special lady and will be sorely missed. Elizabeth will be reposing at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave on Monday, October 9, 2017 from 5 to 8 PM. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, at 11:00 AM, at North Marbletown Cemetery, with Rev. Charles Stickley, officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Guiding Eyes for the Blind, a charity that held special meaning to Elizabeth.
