Emil Josenhans of Shagbark Drive, Shokan died Friday, April 6, 2007 at Ten Broeck Commons Nursing Home. He was 93.
He was born in Eltingen, Germany on September 17, 1913, a son of the late Friedrich and Luise Josenhans.
Mr. Josenhans served in the German Army. His unit was captured and for over three years he was a Russian prisoner of war.
He apprenticed as a body and fenderman in Berlin. On March 12, 1942 he married Christa Triebel.
In 1950 Mr. Josenhans immigrated to this country and settled in Queens. In 1954 he moved to Port Washington, Long Island. He belonged to a German - American Social Club in Brooklyn.
Since 1953 Mr. Josenhans owned and operated body shops on Long Island. He retired in 1974 when he moved to Shokan. He belonged to the Olive Senior Citizens.
During the 1980's Emil and Christa maintained a second home in Clearwater, Florida.
Three brothers Fritz, Rudolf and Karl all died previously.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 65 years are two sons Stefan Josenhans and his wife Mary Ann of North Massapequa and Erich Josenhans and his wife Alisa of Huntington Station; one daughter Susan Josenhans and her husband Robert Specht of Shokan; two sisters Emma Kühnle of Germany and Marta Faiss of St. George, Utah; six grandchildren David, Sara, Andrea, Alex, Karina and Gregory Josenhans; two great grandchildren Paul and Elizabeth Josenhans; many nieces and nephews.
Reposing at the Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Monday from 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:30 - 8:30 PM. The funeral service will be Tuesday at 12:00 PM at the funeral home, Rev. Richard Mueller will officiate. Interment will be in Ashokan Rural Cemetery.
