Ernest M. Rowe

Ernest M. Rowe Jr. of Washington Avenue, Kingston died Saturday, December 17, 2005 at Kingston Hospital. He was 77. A native and lifelong Kingston resident, he was the son of the late Ernest M. and Anna Mae Petersen Rowe. Mr. Rowe was a graduate of Kingston High School and Ulster County Community College. Mr. Rowe was a US Navy veteran of WW II. A Past Commander and life member of the Post 150, Kingston American Legion, he was a life member of the AMVETS. He married Frances. S. Stauble in 1950. For 30 years he worked for I.B.M. in Poughkeepsie and Kingston. He retired as an analyst in 1987. He belonged to the Quarter Century Club. Formerly of the Boulevard, he has lived on Washington Avenue sing 1992. A past president of the Kingston JAYCEES, he also served as past vice president of the NYS JAYCEES and was a life member of the U.S. JAYCEES. Mr. Rowe was a member and past Councilor of the Charles DeWitt Council JOUAM #91. He was past president of the Lowlands Ranch Club of Lake Katrine and a life member of the NRA. Mr. Rowe was a member of the Ulster COunty Civil War Roundtable and the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, Sydney Camp #41, Dept. of NY. He was a member of the Friends of the Senate House, and a past member of the Salvation Army Advisory Board. A former member of the Board of Directors of the Children's Home of Kingston, he was a former board member of S.C.O.R.E. Suriving in addition to his wife of 55 years are seven daughters Diane and Ted Houghton of Conway, SC, Joanne and Ray Miller of Kingston, Suzanne and Duane North of Tillson, Luanne and Steve Simon of Kingston, Peggy and Frank Benjamin of New Paltz, Beth and Allen Dinga of Kingston and Maryann and Ken Boughton of Kingston; one son Michael and Susan Rowe of Kingston; 29 grandchildren, 5 great grandhchildren, many nieces and nephews. Reposing at the Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Monday 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday at 10:00 AM at the funeral home, Pastor Paul Marshall will officiate. Interment will be in Mount Marion Cemetery in the spring.
