Evelyn Esposito passed away on Saturday morning, January 20th after a long illness at Golden Hill Health Care Center. She was 85.
She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Petromale Guadagnolo.
Mrs. Esposito attended Kingston High School and then graduated from the Wilfred Academy of Beauty in New York City in 1940. She returned to Kingston and became one of the first women business owners when she opened Wilfred’s Beauty Salon on Wall Street. She later relocated to Broadway.
She married Carlo J. Esposito on November 24, 1946. He predeceased her on January 7, 1995.
Evelyn and Carlo worked hard and played hard and traveled the world together. She was a long time member of the Friends of Historic Kingston, a singer with Lyrichoristers and a devout parishioner of St. Mary’s Church. Evelyn enjoyed the arts and spent her free time as a patron frequenting operas, ballets, and theater.
She loved to entertain and her greatest joy was bringing her family together.
She is survived by her devoted two sons and daughter-in-laws Dr. Riccardo and Kellee Esposito of Kingston; Dr. Rinaldo and Roberta Esposito of Gloversville and her loving sisters, brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws Virginia Mancuso, Julia and Jim Carpino, Joe and Joan Esposito, Carmella Esposito and Marie Esposito; her five beloved grandchildren David, Paul, Olivia, Matthew and Dominic Esposito and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Reposing at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave., Kignston on Thursday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 pm. The funeral procession will form on Friday at 12:15 pm from the funeral home. At 1:00 pm, a Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Church, 160 Broadway in Kingston. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
