Helen Patricia Burke

Helen P. Burke, formerly of Syosset, West Palm Beach, Florida and Lake Katrine died Tuesday, December 21, 2004 at Winthrop University Hospital. Helen was a graduate of Buffalo State College and then taught in Buffalo. On July 14, 1943 she married James F. Burke. Helen moved to Long Island in 1954 and received her Masters in Education from Hofstra University. For many years she taught 2nd and 3rd grade for the Jericho School District. Helen moved to Lake Katrine in 1985 where she lived at Watermill for 10 years. Wife of James F. Burke; mother of Kathleen Burke and James Teeple, James J. Burke and Alison Burke; Sheila Burke; Elizabeth Burke Conley and Dr. Michael Conley, Dr. Barbara Burke and Dr. Dan Dietzman. Six grandchildren Brian, Dennis and Justin Conley, Kelly and Nicolette Burke and Nicholas Dietzman; and many nieces and nephews also survive. A brother, John Bodkin and two sisters, Virginia Friedman and Mabel Bodkin died previously. The Family will have “calling hours” on Sunday December 26th WHEN: 2:00 – 4:00 PM at The Bristal, 40 Merrick Avenue, East Meadow, Long Island NY (516) 542-0800 Reposing at the Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave., Kingston on Monday 2-4 and 7-9. The funeral will be Tuesday at 9:15 from the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph's Church, Kingston. Entombment will be in Wiltwyck Community Mausoleum.
