Henry Schwab, 97, of Kingston, died Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Mountain Valley Manor. Born in Haigerloch, Germany, he was a son of the late Ernest and Fanny Jacobs Schwab and stepson of the late Yette Schwab. Henry had to flee Germany in 1937 and emigrated to the United States, where he began his lifelong business as a sewing machine mechanic. Henry met and married the love of his life, Sabina Rozen, on February 17, 1946 in Brooklyn, NY. In later years, Sabina and he became snowbirds and enjoyed good times and friends in both Brooklyn and Florida. Henry took an active part in his Senior Center in Brooklyn, running a small fix-it shop there. In Florida, he volunteered at the nearby Senior Center, assisting wherever he was needed - Friday night services, Bingo. He also enjoyed attending services at the synagogue in Century Village, West Palm Beach. A loving husband and a devoted father, his family meant everything to him. Henry Schwab was forever a kind, sweet and generous man and will be remembered that way by all who have known him. Henry is survived by a daughter, Felice Povill and her husband Gary of Hurley, five grandchildren, Evan, Joshua, David Povill, Jason and Brian Danielak, four great grandchildren, Abigail, Rebecca, Oliver and Sabina Povill. In addition to his surviving daughter, and grandsons, he leaves behind his sister-in-law, Irene Katz and a nephew, Kenneth Katz , granddaughters-in-law, Jennifer, Laura and Marci Povill, grandson-in-law, Ed Danielak and all whose lives he touched. In addition to his parents, Henry was predeceased by his beloved wife of 64 years, Sabina, who passed in 2010 and his youngest daughter, Susan Danielak, who passed in 2017. He and his family were grateful for the loving care he received at Mountain Valley Manor in Kingston. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at Wellwood Cemetery in Farmingdale, NY at 11:30 AM. Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave is honored to assist the family with the arrangements. The family requests that memorial donations be made to the Woodstock Jewish Congregation, 1682 Glasco Turnpike, Woodstock, NY 12498 or a charity that you find meaningful. The family will be sitting Shiva at the Povills home on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings from 6-8 pm. Online condolences may be left for the family of Henry by visiting www.SimpsonGaus.com
