Herbert L. Winnie of Summit Ave., Hurley died Monday, May 12, 2008 at Northern Dutchess Hospital. He was 77. He was born in High Woods on July 19, 1930, a son of the late Leroy and Lena Whitney Winnie. He married Stella Konefal on August 17, 1958. For over 40 years Mr. Winnie owned and operated Herbert L. Winnie Contracting, Inc. in Hurley. During the 1970's he developed the Creeklocks Mobile Home Park in Bloomington. Surviving, in addition to his wife Stella, are three sons David Winnie of Troy, Peter Winnie and his wife Rose of Bloomington, Paul Winnie and his wife Meryl of Duanesburgh; two brothers Hyland Winnie of Saugerties, Ranson Winnie of Ulster Park; five sisters Beatrice Koslowski of Port Ewen, Maude Winnie of Delaware, Florence Vedder of Malden-On-Hudson, Estella VanBuren of Ulster Park and Olive Schuman of Kingston; three grandchildren Herbert, Caitlin and Steven; many nieces and nephews. Two brothers Elmer and Melvin Winnie, two sisters Evelyn Palen and Eleanor Winnie all died previously. Reposing at the Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Thursday from 3:00 - 7:00 PM. The funeral service will be conducted on Friday at 12:00 by Rev. Robert Vanderlaan. Interment will be in Hurley Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Parkinson's Foundation, 10 Union Square, Suite 5L, NY, NY 10003.
