Jean A. Salzer

d. June 25, 2022

Jean A. Salzer, 88, of Kingston, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 25, 2022, at Golden Hill Nursing & Rehabilitation Center after a long illness.

Born in Elizabeth, NJ, Jean was the daughter of Joseph & Adelaide Robinson Wiesner and sister of Joan A. Willimott. In early childhood, the family moved to the Albany area. Jean later moved to the Kingston area after raising her three children in Red Hook. Jean worked for Adirondack Trailways for 23 years as the Revenue Accounting Manager. After retirement, Jean worked part-time at Rusk, Wadlin, Heppner & Martuscello, LLP until she was 83 years old. Jean will always be remembered for her impeccable fashion sense, her strong work ethic and amusing sense of humor. Jean is predeceased by her parents and her dear sister, Joan.

Among the many friends she has made over the years, Jean’s closest and most loving friends are Louise Friedmann of Saugerties and James Crist of Kingston, both worked with Jean at Adirondack Trailways and were life-long friends. They went on many trips together, most notably to Italy and their yearly trips to Ogunquit, Maine.

The family would like to acknowledge the compassionate and attentive care their mother received at Golden Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, particularly the nurses and staff on A-2: Jessica, Tandy, Kim, Dena, David, Nick and Caroline who went above and beyond to assist their mother during the COVID pandemic when family member visitations were not permitted.

Jean is survived by her loving children; Karen Salzer of Kingston, Kim Brosius of Binghamton, and Kirk (Salowa) Salzer of Longmont, CO; her beloved grandson, David (Julie) Brosius of Binghamton and her three precious great grandsons, William, Theodore and Julian; nieces Brenda (AL) Rider and Linda Fink; nephews David (Nancy) Willimott and Gregg (Michele) Willimott; plus 3 great nieces and 2 great nephews and 7 great-great nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the Simpson-Hammerl Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave on Saturday, July 30, 2022, from 10:00 AM- 12:00 PM.

A memorial service to celebrate Jean’s abundant life will follow at the funeral home at noon.

Interment will be privately held.
