John Francis Koskie

July 25, 1920 — March 16, 2009

John Francis Koskie a lifelong resident of Rodney St., Kingston died Monday, March 16, 2009. He was 88. A native and lifelong Wilbur resident, he was born July 25, 1920, a son of the late Frank and Alice Ellsworth Koskie. Mr. Koskie was a graduate of St. Mary's Roman Catholic School and a Kingston High School, class of '38 graduate. A US Army veteran of WW II, he served in the European Theater of Operations from from 1942 to 1946. He was a telegraph - telephone installer/operator throughout Europe and the Pacific Theater. When he returned from service, he worked for I.T.T. World Communications in New York City. He also worked for All America Cables and Radio, Commercial Atlantic Cables, Commercial Pacific Cables, and Mackay Radio Telegraph Co. A lifelong Republican, he was a parishioner of St. Mary's Church. On his return to Kingston, he worked at Herzog Supply Co. in shipping and receiving. Two brothers Joseph and Kenneth Koskie and three sisters Anna Loeffler, Frances Koskie, and Sarah Koskie all died previously. Surviving are one brother Thomas Koskie of Kingston, several nieces and nephews. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Church, Kingston on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. Fr. Edmund Burke will officiate. Interment, with military honors by Joyce - Schirick Post #1386, will be in Hurley Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Church or Benedictine Hospital.
