John J. McGinnis

John J. McGinnis of Garrison St., Kingston died Wednesday, December 26, 2012. He was 70. A native and lifelong Kingston resident, John was a son of the late John McGinnis, Jr. and Frances Torrisi. He married Louise Rota on June 18, 1966. John worked as a driver for UPS from 1972 2000 and was a member of Teamsters Local 294, Albany. He was a parishioner and usher of St. Mary's Church. An avid boater and fisherman, John was a member and served as Commodore in 1988 of Hidden Harbor Yacht Club. He was a delegate for the Mohawk Hudson Council of Yacht Clubs and served as Commodore in 2011. Beloved husband of Louise McGinnis, loving father of Gina McGinnis of Woburn, MA; brother of Kathleen Bush of Saugerties, Patricia Benson of Highland and Donna Wadnola of Lake Katrine; nephew of Joe Torrisi and the late John and Dorothy Torrisi. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Reposing at the Simpson Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Saturday from 6-8 PM and Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Members of the Hidden Harbor Yacht Club will gather at the funeral home on Sunday at 7:00 PM. The funeral procession will form on Monday at 9:00 AM from the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary's Church at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
