Josephine E. Smith

Josephine E. Smith, formerly of Williams Lane in West Hurley died Saturday, July 4, 2009 at Vassar Bros. Hospital in Poughkeepsie. She was 98. She was born November 10, 1910 in Monticello, a daughter of the late Amadeo and Isabette D'Andrea. In the 1930's and '40's, she worked as a seamstress in the local garment industries. She retired as an assembly worker at Rotron. She enjoyed sewing, reading and gardening. Her husband, Carl A. Smith Sr. died previously. Surviving are her daughter, Mary H. Paccione of Highland; two sons, Joseph C. Smith of Silver City, NM and Raymond J. Smith of Shokan; a sister, Julia Dunn of Lake Katrine. Ten grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews also survive. Three sisters, Mary Lemister, Elizabeth Meyers, Carmel DeCicco and three brothers, Charles, Frank and Anthony D'Andrea died previously. Inurnment will take place on Thursday, 12:00 pm at Wiltwyck Cemetery. Arrangements are by Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave., Kingston.
