June Rose Coniglio Griggs of Schryver Street, Port Ewen died Monday, August 1, 2011 at her home. She was 80. She was born in Kingston, a daughter of the late Benjamin and Josephine Dazzo Coniglio. A graduate of St. Ursula's Academy in Kingston, June later received a teaching degree from New Paltz. She taught Kindergarten at Kingston City Schools for one year and later substituted. A parishioner of Presentation of Virgin Mary Church, Port Ewen, June was an "Hour Captain" at the Perpetual Adoration Chapel, Kingston. Beloved wife of Richard W. Griggs II, who died July 7, 1979; loving mother of Richard W. Griggs III of Port Ewen and his fiance Christina Hillje, Nancy Griggs of Kingston and her husband Stephen Brucker, and Lee Griggs of Kingston; grandmother of Josephine Terese Griggs - Locasio; sister of the late Frances Prusack, Ida Henry, Lucy Perry, Mary Dempsey, John Coniglio and Veronica Corcoran; and aunt of Cookie Reis. Several other nieces and nephews also survive. Reposing at the Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Tuesday from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. A wake service will be conducted by Fr. Peter Vianey at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The funeral cortege will form at the funeral home on Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Presentation of Virgin Mary Church at 10:00 a.m. by Fr. Carl Johnson. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Christopher's Inn, 21 Franciscan Way, Garrison, NY 10524 or Boy's & Girl's Club of Kingston, 139 Greenkill Ave., Kingston, NY 12401.
