Kenneth C. Handschin of Neighborhood Rd., Lake Katrine, died September 23, 2005 at his home. He was 57. Ken was born in Jackson Heights, Queens on September 28, 1948, a son of Charles G. and Elizabeth J. Quinn Handschin. He was a Poughkeepsie High School graduate and then received a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering at Clarkson College in Pottsdam. After college Ken worked for Raytheon Corp. in Natick, Mass. He began a 26 year career at I.B.M. in Poughkeepsie and Kingston and retired as an Advisory Engineer in 2000. Formerly of Poughkeepsie and Wappingers Falls, Ken was an area resident for 12 years. After I.B.M. he worked at the pro shop at the Hudson Valley Resort and Spa and belonged to the Monday Night Hudson Valley Resort Golf League. Surviving in addition to his parents of Poughkeepsie are his daughter Heather Handschin of Fredericksburg, VA; two sisters Lynn Tillou of Poughkeepsie and Kathy Handschin – Robinson of Bethesda, MD; two grandchildren Anthony and Brandon Brown; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. There will be a gathering of family and friends at Simpson – Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave., Kingston on Sunday from 3:00 - 5:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice, Inc., 34 Broadway, Kingston, NY 12401.
