Lawrence E. Mark, 81, inventor and educator, of Woodstock, died March 1 at home. Born in Castleton, VT, he was the son of the late Raymond F. & Mary Sweet Mark. As an educator, Lawrence taught if many fields from kindergarten readers to Middle and High School math and sciences to Community College geology and materials and methods in the arts. He was also a teaching member of the staff and lapidarian at Princeton University. His inventions include "Wall Movers" for the safe, efficient movement of temporary walls, in use at The Art Museum of Miami, FL and The Brunnier Museum at Iowa State University in Aimes, IA; The Dali Cart custom designed for The Salvador Dali Museum in Sarasota, FL and a cart for us in photographing fine art designed for The National Museum of The American Indian. He is survived by his wife, Mary Alice Brown Mark of Woodstock, and six children: Laurel, Sperling and Jonquil Mark of Woodstock, NY; Phillip E. Mark of Crestview, FL, Nathan C. Mark of Virginia Beach and Lisa Mark Chaga of Lehman, PA; three brothers, three sisters, twelve grandchildren, two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Services and interment will be private. The family requests that memorial contributions be sent to the Department of Geology, Bryn Mawr College, 101 North Merion Ave, Bryn Mawr, PA 19010-2899
