Louis Clausi

East Kingston – Louis “Luigi” J. Clausi, of Brigham Street, died Saturday, October 11, 2003 at Benedictine Hospital. He was 73. A native and lifelong East Kingston resident, he was born November 13, 1929, a son of the late Pietro “Peter” and Guiseppina “Josephine” Micieli Clausi. Mr. Clausi served stateside in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He first worked at the former Kingston Knitting Mills as a presser. Mr. Clausi then worked at the former Star Brick, Town of Ulster. In 1990 he retired as an Ulster County Highway Department foreman. A former chief and member of the East Kingston Volunteer Fire Company, Mr. Clausi was a frequent caller and contributor on Radio WGHQ. He was a parishioner of St. Colman’s Church, East Kingston. Two sisters Rose Dunbar and Mary Smith and two brothers Anthony P. and Thomas D. Clausi all died previously. Surviving are his wife, the former Dorothy Whipple whom he married on May 17, 1979. Surviving are one son John P. Clausi of Hurley; one daughter Josephine “JoMary” and her husband Mark Lund of East Kingston; two stepsons Kevin S. Diehl of South Orange, NJ and Kenneth H. Diehl of Poughkeepsie; one brother Patrick A. Clausi of East Kingston; grandfather of Paul L. Rydzewski, Rheana M. Lund and Kaylee A. Clausi. Many nieces and nephews also survive. Reposing at the Simpson – Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Tuesday morning from 9:00 AM – 10:15 AM. At 11:00 AM a Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Colman’s Church.
