Luthena H. Dougherty

Luthena H. Dougherty of Lawrenceville St., and formerly of Elmendorf Street, Kingston died Monday, May 25, 2009 at Kingston Hospital. She was 82. A native and lifelong Kingston resident, she was born September 4, 1926, a daughter of the late William W. and Helen Byrnes Dunbar. A licensed practical nurse, Mrs. Dougherty did private duty nursing. She was an avid crafter and bingo player. She recently joined the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Her husband Robert W. Dougherty died February 8, 1999. Surviving is her daughter, Sandra Bell and her husband Joseph of Ogden, UT; her son, Randy Dougherty of Alexandria, VA and four grandchildren, Jonathan, Timothy, Devin and Karen Bell. Many nieces and nephews also survive. A sister, Eleanor Kelsch and four brothers, Norman, Wesley, Clifford and William Dunbar died previously. Reposing at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave., Kingston on Thursday from 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 PM. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, 12:00 PM. Rev. David Jolly will officiate. Interment will follow in Montrepose Cemetery, Kingston. Memorial contributions may be directed to a charity of one's own choice.
