Marie S. Muscarella

Marie S. Muscarella, 99, of Mt. Marion, died Saturday, August 10, 2013 at Ten Broeck Commons Nursing Home in Lake Katrine, NY. Born in New York City, she was a daughter of the late Ignatius and Geraloma Vadala. Marie was an avid bowler and a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union. She owned and operated a garment business, with her husband Joseph B. Muscarella, Sr. in Suffern, NY and also worked in the garment industry in Kingston. Marie and Joseph left the garment industry to raise cows and chickens on their farm in Mt. Marion, NY. After her retirement, she cared for mentally disabled people in her home for many years. Marie is survived by three children, Mark V. Muscarella, Geraldine Mulligan and Joseph B. Muscarella, Jr., 17 grand children, including Daniel, Brion, Joseph, Caitlin (Muscarella) Guariglia and Maureen Muscarella, Matthew and Beth Mulligan, Anthony, Aundrea, Joseph B. III, Mario, and Vincenzo Muscarella. Her daughter in law, dear friend and caretaker, Christine Muscarella, as well as numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents, Marie was predeceased by her husband, Joseph B. Muscarella, Sr. and siblings, Gabriel, Ignatius, Anthony and Barbara Vadala. Reposing at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave on Thursday, August 15, 2013 from 4-8 PM. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 11:30 AM. Interment will follow in St. Mary of the Snow Cemetery.
