Marie Tomson

Marie Smith Tomson, 95, of Kingston, died Sunday, February 26, 2017 at Golden Hill Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Born in Margaretville, she was a daughter of George & Hazel Hopkins Smith. Marie graduated from Margaretville High School, class of 1939. She then attended Moran's Business School. She was a Real Estate agent from 1951-1965 and then served as an assistant administrator of Home Health Aide Service. Marie was a member of St. James Methodist Church and the Ulster County Art Association as their treasurer for many years. Marie is survived by her son, George H. Tomson, five grandchildren, Sita, Tracy, Erin, Devon and Brent Tomson. Several great grandchildren also survive. In addition to her parents, Marie was predeceased by her husband, Holcombe Tomson and a son, Joel Tomson. Marie will be reposing at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave on Friday, March 3, 2017 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. A Funeral Service will follow at 12:00 noon at the funeral home, with Pastor Kendra VanHouten of Fair Street Reformed Church, officiating. Burial will take place on Friday, March 10, 2017 at 1:00 PM in Hurley Cemetery. The family requests that memorial donations be made to The Children's Home of Kingston, 26 Grove St, Kingston, NY 12401.
