Martha Horst Lopiano

Martha Elizabeth Horst Lopiano of Hurley Mountain Road, Lomontville died Thursday, April 12, 2007 at Golden Hill Health Care Center. She was 83. She was born in Giessen, Germany on November 27, 1923, a daughter of the late Heinrich and Minna Zander Horst. Mrs. Lopiano immigrated to this country in September 1955 and settled in Lapla. For many years she worked at Gill's Farm Stand and the Corner Washerette on Morton Blvd., Town of Ulster. With her husband, they owned and operated the Lomontville General Store for several years. Mrs. Lopiano belonged to the Lomontville Fire Company Ladies Auxilary. Her husband Martin Lopiano died August 10, 2002. One brother Adolf Horst died previously. Surviving are six sons, Virgil H.G. Horst of McClellandtown, PA; Rolf R. Horst of Kingston; Patrick H. Lopiano of Kingston; James D. Lopiano of Covelo, CA; Fred M. Lopiano of Lomontville; John M. Lopiano of Lomontville and a daughter, Rose Marie Chrisey of Lyonsville; one brother Hans Horst of Essen, Germany; six grandchildren, several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be conducted on Sunday at 3:00 PM at the Vly Evangelical Fellowship Church, 420 Scarawan Road, Stone Ridge (687-2420.) Pastor David Miles will officiate.
