Martin J. 'Marty' Marino of West End Avenue, Rosendale died Thursday, January 12, 2006 at Ten Broeck Commons Nursing Home. He was 85. He was born in Brooklyn on May 3, 1920, a son of the late Francesco and Antonina Gioe Marino. A US Army veteran of WW II, he served in the European Theater of Operations. Mr. Marino played in the 522nd Army Air Force Band. Upon returning home from service he married Clara Allocca in November 1947. A professional musician, he played string bass in well-known night clubs throughout the New York City and Catskill region. Mr. Marino played with Gene Krupa. For many years he worked for Prudential Life Insurance as a salesman in Westchester. He also belonged to the NRA. A 40 year resident of Mohican Lake, Westchester County, he then moved to Florida for 18 years. Mr. and Mrs. Marino moved to this area to be close to their daughter. Surviving in addition to his wife of 58 years, are one daughter Alice S. Wilson of Tillson; one brother Paul Marino Jr. of Long Island; one sister Ann Lizio of Long Island, two granddaughters Lee Lanier and Christine Mitchell, five great grandchildren Michael, Laura and Allie Lanier, Sarah and Andrew Mitchell. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Music Department at the Westchester Family Church, PO Box 935, Mount Kisco, NY 10549.
