Mary G. Smith of Flatbush Road died Monday, December 31, 2007. She was 86. She was born November 18, 1921 in Ulster Landing, a daughter of the late Louis and Theresa Marniozzi Giostro. For many years, she was employed in the garment industry, including as a collar blouse setter for Halpern’s Blouse Factory. She was a parishioner of St. Colman’s Church in East Kingston and a member of the Altar-Rosary Society. She was also a member of the East Kingston Fire Department Ladies Auxillary and the Joyce-Schirick Post #1386 VFW Ladies Auxillary and the Kingston United Union Retiree Club. Her husband, John L. Smith died August 9, 1990. Surviving are her daughter, Mary Mikesh and her husband Robert of Kingston and her son, John L. Smith Jr.and his wife Patricia of Kingston; six grandchildren, R.J. Mikesh, Ryan Mikesh, Nardino Ritchie, Melissa Smith, Erica Smith, John L. Smith III and three great-grandchildren, Cameron and Sean Mikesh and Isabella Ritchie. Several nieces and nephews also survive. A daughter, Carolyn Ritchie and three sisters, Josephine Geoghan, Emma Ciabattoni and Lena Feleter died previously. Reposing at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Wednesday from 3 – 7 PM. The funeral procession will form at the funeral home on Thursday at 9:00 am. At 10:00 am, a funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Colman’s Church by Fr. James Borstelman. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Colman’s Church, 18 Brigham St., East Kingston, NY 12401.
