Mary M. VanKleeck of Robert Street, Town of Ulster died Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at Benedictine Hospital. She was 84.
She was born in Kingston on April 16, 1923, a daughter of the late Albert J. and Minnie Ludtke Weierich.
Since 1965 Mary worked in food services at numerous Kingston City Schools. She belonged to the NY State Food Service Assoc. and the Ulster County Food Service Assoc. and retired in 1989.
A parishioner of St. Catherine Laboure Church, she belonged to the Altar - Rosary Society. A Charter Member of Ulster Hose #5 Ladies Auxiliary, Mary was the founder of the Ulster County Ladies Auxiliary Volunteer Fire Department. Mary was a Life Member of the Hudson Valley Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Firemens Assoc. of the State of NY. She belonged to Ulster County Right to Life and was founder of the Red Rocket Club.
Her husband, Stanley S. VanKleeck, died November 29, 1976. Her son Stephen F. VanKleeck died January 17, 1990. Her granddaughter Jessica Lynn Longendyke and sister Mildred Watts, both died previously.
Surviving are three sons Stanley A. VanKleeck of Town of Ulster, Ronald J. VanKleeck of Catskill and Thomas E. VanKleeck of Gainesville, GA, two daughters Kim Marie Waleur of Town of Ulster and JoAnn Longendyke of Glasco; two son in laws James J. Waleur and Ralph S. Longendyke; one daughter in law Penny VanKleeck; one brother Frank Weierich of Kingston; one sister, Catherine Dittus of Kingston, seven grandchildren Ryan and Kasey VanKleeck, Christopher Waleur, Nicole Longendyke, Kelli Ann VanKleeck, Jason Waleur and Sarah Longendyke; many nieces and nephews.
Reposing at the Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Thursday from 2:00 - 8:00 PM. The funeral will be Friday at 9:00 AM from the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Catherine Laboure Church at 10:00 AM. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
