Muriel M. Smith of Vly Atwood Road, Stone Ridge died Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at The Thompson House. She was 87. She was born in Newfoundland, Canada, a daughter of the late Martin and Gertrude Healey Wall. On May 3, 1947 she married Edward J. Smith. They moved to Glenford in 1976 where Muriel was involved with the Town of Hurley Republican Club. Muriel was the office manager at Normann Staffing, Kingston until her retirement in 1989. In 1992 they moved to Stone Ridge where Muriel was active with the Marbletown Senior Citizens Club. Beloved wife of Edward J. Smith who died January 8, 1995; loving mother of Lorraine Normann and her husband Robert of Stone Ridge, and Diane Knepper of New Port Richey, FL; sister of Elizabeth Lombardo of Staten Island, Gerald Wall of New Smyrna Beach, Florida and the late Gertrude "Dolly" Campbell and Edward Wall; grandmother of Kristine Normann and Rachel Carron; great grandmother of Olivia Carron and Emily Decker. Many nieces and nephews also survive. Reposing at the Simpson Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Sunday from 3:00 7:00 PM. The funeral procession will form on Monday at the funeral home at 9:15 AM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Church at 10:00 AM. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery. Contributions, in Muriel's memory, may be made to John A. Coleman Catholic High School, 430 Hurley Ave., Hurley, NY 12443.
