Nunzio J. Nanna

Town of Ulster- Nunzio J. Nanna of Lawrenceville St. died Wednesday, December 31, 2003 at Benedictine Hospital. He was 79. He was born January 1, 1924 in Kingston, the son of Venduro and Dominica Stumpa Nanna. Mr. Nanna served in the Army during WW II as a Private First Class, earning five battle stars for campaigns in Italy, Germany and Austria. He was employed as an inspector for Rotron in Woodstock, retiring in 1990 and also worked as a parking lot attendant at the Ulster County Office Building. He was a parishioner of St. Catherine Laboure Church and a member of Joyce-Schirick VFW Post 1386, a Life member of Wicks Engine Co. Kingston and a Life member and former commissioner of Ulster Hose. Loving husband of the late Marion S. Barbarossa Nanna and father of Nancy Wiegert and her husband, Carl, Mary Phipps and her husband, John; brother of Mary Pisano and grandfather of Kimberly Connolly, John Wiegert, Lori and Timothy Russo and great-grandfather of Michael and Logan Connolly. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Reposing at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave., on Fri. from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. A funeral procession will form at the funeral home on Sat. at 12:15 pm. At 1:00 pm, a funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Catherine Laboure Church by Fr. John Kearney. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
