Philipp J. Mertling, Jr.

Philipp J. Mertling, Jr., 60, of Kingston, died Monday, February 22, 2015 at HealthAlliance Hospital Broadway Campus. Born in Catskill, he was a son of the late Philipp & Hildegarde Leitl Mertling.Philipp received food service training while stationed in Germany with the Army. Since his discharge he worked at area delicatessens and was a volunteer at local soup kitchens. Philipp is survived by his sister, Phyllis Bliss and her husband Stephen of Hurley. Three nieces and one nephew also survive. A Memorial Service will be held at the Hurley Reform Church on Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at 11:00 AM. Interment will be private. Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave., is honored to assist the family with the arrangements.
