Rita Altomare of Bruyn Ave., Kingston died Wednesday, July 18, 2007 at Benedictine Hospital. She was 74.
She was born April 10, 1933 in Rogliano, Cosenza, Italy, a daughter of the late Raffaele and Giuseppina Sicilia Altomare.
A housewife, Mrs. Altomare enjoyed cooking for her children and grandchildren. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph's Church.
Surviving is her husband Mario Altomare whom she married on August 14, 1954. Also surviving are her children, Sandy Acampora and her husband Nick of Plattekill; Silvia Viviani and her husband Joe of Kingston, Pietro Altomare and his wife Sandy of Kingston; Tony Altomare and his wife Jodi of Marlboro; Franca Grimando and her husband Lenny of New Windsor; Ennio Altomare and his fiance Kim of Kingston; Nick Altomare and his wife Christina of Yonkers; a brother, Alberico Altomare of Rogliano, Italy, a sister, Maria Carretti of Modena, Italy and grandchildren, Raffaela Acampora, Carmela Viviani, Mario Altomare, Clementina Grimando, Alessandro Viviani, Peter Grimando, Julia Altomare, Nicole Acampora, Abbie Altomare, Rita Grimando, Antonio Altomare, Maria Grimando, Nicola Altomare, Giovanni Altomare, Christopher Altomare. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
A sister, Genovffa Altamare died previously.
Reposing at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave., Kingston on Saturday from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 pm and Sunday from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 pm. The funeral procession will form from the funeral home on Monday at 8:45 am and process to St. Joseph’s Church for a funeral Mass at 9:30 am. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
