Robert I. Mason, a retired dentist, of Washington Avenue died Friday, December 19, 2003 at Benedictine Hospital. He was 89.
He was born in Yonkers on January 25, 1914, a son of the late Samuel B. and Ada B. Myers Mason. He served in the US Army during WW II in the European Theater of Operations.
A graduate of Columbia University School of Dentistry, class of 1939, Dr. Mason was a life member of American Dental Society and the Westchester Dental Society. He had a private dental practice in Yonkers from 1939 – 1981.
He belonged to the North Yonkers Community Church and was a former member of Yonkers Rotary Club and former board member of Yonkers YMCA.
Dr. Mason moved to this area and was a former member of the Board of Deacons for the Port Ewen Methodist Church. He was a current member of the Kingston Rotary Club and a retired volunteer for the Ulster Literacy Program.
Formerly of Rondout Harbor, Port Ewen, his wife Rose Ewald Mason died in 1997.
Beloved father of Robert J. Mason, Scott J. Mason and his wife Bernice and Merilyn “Mace” Burr and her husband Donald; grandfather of Bob Mason, Jennifer Mason Mannion, Leah Mason Mouzakis, Phoebe, Susanna, Samuel and Matthew Burr, Timothy and Christopher Mason; great grandfather of Aimee Mason and Mikela Mannion.
A Memorial Service will be conducted on January 24, 2004 at the Port Ewen United Methodist Church, Port Ewen.
