Ronald J. Dixon, 79, a longtime resident of Kingston, died Friday, March 18, 2022 at his home, surrounded by his family.

Born in New York City, he was the son of the late John (Jack)& Beatrice Dixon.

Ron grew up in the Bronx Where he met his wife Aglae, married on June 22, 1963, and had three children (Mark, Rhonda, & Natalie). They moved to Kingston NY to raise their children and be with family and friends. Ron had a long career with Columbia University computer center in NYC for 42 years along with being a partner in D&H construction.

He will be remembered for his work ethic, unconditional love of family/friends, and ability to find humor in all situations. He had a wide range of skills, abilities, and interests. From being an avid reader, his love for art/music, Science, sports, animals, and outdoor activities. But what he loved most of all is just being with his loved ones. He was his grand children's # 1 fan and biggest encourager/supporter. He was a soft spoken, gentle but tough, cool kind of guy with an inner strength. He was an awesome/reliable friend and amazing father/family man who provided, protected and was devotional. He was kind, compassionate, respectful with the utmost integrity, trustworthy and treated others fairly and equally. His relationship with his wife Aglae was a model of romance, togetherness, and enduring love.

Ron is survived by his son Mark Dixon and his wife Jennifer of East Amherst, NY, two daughters, Rhonda Dixon of Port Ewen, Natalie Polacco, Michael Polacco of Kingston, grandchildren, Michael John, Keldon, Connor Polacco, Ava Ziros, Liam and Brendan Dixon, a brother, John Dixon and his wife Sharon of Highland, a sister Patricia Dixon-Horvers of Kingston, a brother James Dixon of Kingston.

In addition to his parents, Ron was predeceased by his beloved wife of 58 years, Aglae Dixon, in laws, Victor and Zoraida Sorrentini and his two sisters, Barbara Greene, Frances Hommel and God son Freddy Hommel.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Coleman Church on Sunday May 15 at 11:00 AM.

Inurnment will be held privately.

Simpson-Hammerl Funeral Home is honored to assist the family of Ron with the arrangements.
