Roslyn Lipton of Thoreau Drive, Eastham, MA and formerly of Kingston died Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at her home. She was 77. She was born in Albany, NY, a daugter of the late Jacob and Minnie Levenberg Nelson. Mrs. Lipton received her BS in 1955 and MS in 1969 in Business Education from the State University of New York at Albany. On June 19, 1955 she married Carl Lipton. They lived in Kingston from 1956 until 2009 when they moved permanently to their summer home in Eastham, MA on Cape Cod. From 1965 1989 she taught Business at Bailey Junior High and then at Kingston High School. A member of Kingston Teachers Federation, she retired in 1989. A member of Congregation Ahavath Israel, she served three terms as president of the Sisterhood. She belonged to Hadassah and B'Nai Brith. Surviving are her husband of 55 years, Carl Lipton, two daughters Elaine Lipton and her husband Terry Gallagher of Eastham, MA and Amy Jo Lipton of Northbrook, IL; two grandchildren Jemma Lipton Gallagher and Elliot Kansai Gallagher; one sister in law Evelyn Lipton Samuels; onebrother in law Larry Patlen, three nieces and one nephew. Two sisters Elaine Ruth Nelson and Frances Patlen and one brother in law Melvin Samuels all died previously. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave., Kingston, NY, Rabbi Ron Fish will officiate. Interment will follow in Montrepose Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Congregation Ahavath Israel, the American Cancer Society "Alzheimer's Association of Cape Cod" or VNA /Hospice of Cape Cod.
