Shirley Ann Gaffney

Shirley Ann Gaffney of Chambers Dr., Town of Ulster died July 4, 2011. Mother of Joseph Blum and wife Lisa; Cheryl Matthews; Carol Eggering and Eleanor Greco. Grandmother of Trevor, Jonathan, Betty-Jo, Jolyne, Ernie, Eric and Evan and five great-grandchildren. Shirley was predeceased by Joseph Blum Sr., the father of her children and in 2005 by her second husband, Stephen Jarboe. Born in Baltimore, MD, Shirley moved to the Hudson Valley in 1961, retiring from Ulster County Infirmary (Golden HIll) and Ulster Greene ARC in 1993. Long time accomplished musician, guitar and banjo player, she was leader of her band, "Shirley & the Misfits!". An enthusiastic boater and fisherwoman - her special passion was crabbing on her beloved Chesapeake Bay. Also a lover of lighthouses, Shirley was Docent at Kingston's Rondout II. She remained an avid fan of the Baltimore Ravens and New York Mets! A memorial service will be held at the Unitarian-Universalist Congregation of the Catskills on Saturday at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ulster County Hospice and the Memorial Garden Fund of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the Catskills.
