Shirley Kunst

Shirley I. Kunst, of Ellenville, died Wednesday, August 31, 2005 at Glens Falls Hospital. She was 79. Born on January 10, 1926 in Ellenville, she was the daughter of Harry and Kate (Krilow) Brodsky. In 1958, she married Kenneth Kunst who passed away on March 13, 2000. For almost 30 years, she operated Brodsky’s women’s clothing store in Ellenville, and for the past 5 years worked at Ellenville Regional Hospital. She was active in many community health related activities, she enjoyed traveling, reading, rooting for the Mets, and teaching English as a second language to local adults, but she most enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a tireless worker and a good friend to all that knew her. Beloved wife of the late Kenneth Kunst; mother of Brian Kunst and his wife Leslee of Glens Falls, and Elisa Levey, of Voorheesville, NJ, her niece Susan Owens and her husband Jack of New Salem, NY, her nephew Duke Brodsky of Southport, CT, and her nephew Howard and his wife Lori of Bedford, NY; and her six grandchildren Keenan, Kailee, Molly and Logan Kunst, Peri and Koren Levey. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday at 11:00 am at Congregation Ezrath Israel, Center Street, Ellenville. Burial in Ezrath Israel Cemetery, Wawarsing. Memorial donations may be made to the Ellenville Regional Hospital Auxiliary, Ellenville, NY 12428.
