Simon Pulchin

d. October 13, 2017

Simon Pulchin, 78, of Lake Katrine, passed away on Friday, October 13, 2017 at HealthAlliance Hospital, Broadway Campus after a short illness. Simon was born in Brooklyn, New York to Louis Pulchin, a grocery clerk, and Anna Blonstein, a housewife who predeceased him. He lived with his family until he moved to Letchworth Village, and later to Willowbrook Developmental Center. Simon moved to various other developmental centers, including Wassaic, before he entered Family Care and ultimately made his way to The Arc of Ulster Greene. Simon lived in a few of the homes within the agency, including Rochester, Rousner, and finally Palmer House 1. Simon enjoyed going to Stewarts for coffee (which was really tea) and buying a newspaper or magazine, listening to music of the 1950s and other oldies. He loved wearing a baseball cap, carrying around his radio, coloring, and making jokes with friends and staff alike. Simon was a happy, jokey, spirited man who made the most of each day. He had a great laugh and a wonderful sense of humor. Simon will surely be missed by those who had the pleasure of knowing him. He is survived by his younger brother, Sheldon, who attends Pecora Day Hab. Calling hours for Simon will be at the Simpson Gaus Funeral Home in Kingston on Tuesday, October 17, 2017. Friends and family are welcome to come to the funeral home at 10:00 am and a service will follow promptly at 11:00 am officiated by Rabbi Zoe Zak. Burial will follow in Montrepose Cemetery. Please join us in celebrating Simons life.
