Stanley Clark Ede

Stanley Clark “Cookie” Ede, of Mary Avenue, Lake Katrine, died Thursday, November 13, 2003 at Kingston Hospital. He was 70. He was born in Peekskill on July 14, 1933, a son of the late Stanley Jess and Hazel E. Clark Ede. Mr. Ede was a graduate of Kingston High School, class of 1952. During the 1950’s he owned a Ford Agency in New Paltz and a Dodge dealership from 1956 thru 1958. In 1958 Mr. Ede began employment with Miron Rapid Mix Concrete Corp. In 1962 he became manager and went on to become president of Miron Rapid Mix Concrete Corporation and Island Dock. A former vice president of the NY Concrete Association, he managed the plants in Catskill, Liberty, Philmont and Poughkeepsie. Mr. Ede retired in 1999 and did consulting work for 2 years. An avid boater and skier, he was a life member of the Saugerties Power Boat Assoc., former member of the United States Power Squadron, Charter member of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary and founder of the Kingston Flotilla 10-20. He was awarded a citation by the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary for saving the lives of three people on the Hudson River. Mr. Ede was a Charter member of the New Paltz Lions Club and former member of the Elks Lodge in Kingston. Husband of Linda Ritzhaupt Ede; father of Stanley Clark “Butch” Ede and his wife Anne of Lake Katrine, Gary Ede of Ellenville, James Mottsey of Kingston and Suzanne Kennedy and her husband Jim of Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin; grandfather of Miranda, Meghan and Mackenzie Ede and Skylar Kennedy. He is also survived by his dog, Chauncey. At the request of Mr. Ede, funeral arrangements, under the direction of the Simpson – Gaus Funeral Home, Kingston, are private.
