Walter R. Lange Sr.

Walter R. Lange Sr. of Columbia Street, Town of Ulster died Thursday, March 25, 2004 in Purling. He was 86. He was born in Kingston on August 31, 1917, a son of the late Louis and Margaret C. Dolan Lang. Mr. Lange served in the US Navy during WW II and served in the South Pacific on a Destroyer. He belonged to the American Legion Post 150. In the oil business his entire life, Walt owned and operated Walter Lang Oil Company, Kingston. He sold the business to KOSCO and worked till 1988. He also worked at Rondout Woodstock Oil. A life-member of the Kingston Powerboat Association, he was a parishioner of St. Joseph's Church. His wife, Theresa M. Naccarato Lange died July 25, 1998. Two brothers Louis J. and John A. Lange and two sisters Margaret Langley and Rita Blakely all died previously. Surviving are his three sons Alan of the Town of Ulster, Walter R. Lange Jr. and his wife Sharon of the Town of Ulster, Richard and his wife Lori of Albuquerque, NM; one brother Peter Lange of Glasco, one sister Marie Aidala and her husband Frank of Kingston. Six grandchildren Nicholas, Lauren, Melissa, Timothy, Christopher and Benjamin Lange; two great grandchildren Madison and Justin Lange; many nieces and nephews. Reposing at the Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Avenue, Kingston on Monday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral will be Tuesday at 9:15 AM from the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Church at 10:00 AM. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Kingston.
