William M. Damron

William M. Damron of Twin Ponds Drive died Monday, October 14, 2007 at home. He was 77. He was born September 18, 1930 in Orange, NJ the son of the late John C. and Sara Rice Damron. Mr. Damron lived in Phoenicia from1982- ’85 and then Boiceville until 1997 when he moved to Saugerties. He has been a resident of Kingston since March of 2006. Bill was actively involved in Boy Scouts for 35 years, starting a s Cub Scout in 1939. He attained the rank of Eagle Scout in record time and over the years held many leadership roles including BSA National Council. He served in the U.S.M.C.R. from 1951- 1953, in active duty as a Captain in Motor Transport with Secret Clearance and was honorabley discharged in 1959. A graduate of NYU, he worked as an advertising and marketing executive at Johnson & Johnson, N.W. Ayer, Colgate Palmolive and Lehn and Fink. In addition to this, he worked in developing successful new products for these companies and continued his love of creating and inventing throughout his whole life. Bill joined the Phoenicia Pathwork Center in 1972 and became a Spiritual Counselor and Pathwork Helper in 1979. He did this for several years and served as Manager of the Phoenicia Center in 1987-88. He had a beautiful bass singing voice ans sang with the Pougkeepsie Barbershop Chorus, Ars Choralis and the Holy Cross Church Choir for many years in the 1990’s through 2005. He was active at Holy Cross Church in many ways, serving on the Vestry for several years as a member and Senior Warden. Bill leaves a loving and devoted family including his wife Judy Goldman Damron, his sister and brother-in-law Barbara and Jack Yule of Gardiner, CO; his four children, Emily Jane Damron and her husband Tom Cox of Brooklyn; Bill C. Damron and his wife Leah of Plainsboro, NJ; David Reed and his wife Pam of Belchertown, MA and Martha Baker and her husband Jeff of Clarksville; his brandchildren, Joel and Mathew Damron, Sam and Emma Baker and Sarah Jane and Jason Reed and his niece and her husband Heather Yule and Davie Tod of Kinlochleden, Scotland. He also leaves two brothers-in-law, Andy Goldman and his wife Susan of Chilmark, MA and Bill Goldman and his wife Linda of Bethesda, MD as well a many dear friends. A son, Clayton Damron died in 1967. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday evening at 7:30 pm at Holy Cross Church, Pine Grove Ave., Kingston. On Friday, October 26th, there will be a gathering of family and friends at Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home 411 Albany Ave., Kingston from 5 – 8 pm. A memorial service will then be held at Holy Cross Church on Saturday, Oct. 27 at 11:00 am.
