Catherine R. Kavanagh, 87, a lifelong resident of Kingston, died Thursday, July 18, 2013 at HealthAlliance Hospital Broadway Campus. Born in Kingston, she was a daughter of the late Venduro and Domenica Stumpo Nanna. Catherine worked for IBM for over 30 years. She enjoyed flowers, bird watching and spirited political debates. She was the wife of the late James V. Kavanagh, who passed in 1971. She loved James and cherished his memory throughout her life. Catherine is survived by two sisters, Rose Frances Semenjuk and Mary Pisano, both of Hurley, several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, as well as her beloved friend, Rebecca Millouras-Lettre, her husband Philip and their three children, Alexandra, Christina and Philip, Jr., and her beloved friend, Marie Gallagher of Naples, FL. Many close and special friends also survive. In addition to her husband and parents, Catherine was predeceased by her brother, Nunzio J. Nanna. Visitation is on Friday, July 26, 2013 at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave from 12:00 -1:00 PM. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
