Charlotte M. Johnston

Charlotte M. Johnston of Croft Rd., Poughkeepsie died Thursday, November 11, 2010 at the Lutheran Care Center. She was 88. She was born in New Brunswick, NJ a daughter of the late Herman and Emma Smith Kumpf. Mrs. Johnston previously worked at the Rutherford National Bank in NJ and as a dental assistant in Passaic, NJ. In 1958 she moved to Poughkeepsie, NY. She was a former member and past treasurer of the Christian Womens Club. Her husband, Robert Vernon Johnston died July 12, 2001. One brother Co. William G. Van Allen died previously. Surviving are one son Christopher Vernon Johnston of Poughkeepsie, one daughter Diane Johnston Viscio of Poughkeepsie, one grandson Douglas Vernon Johnston of San Francisco. Graveside services will be conducted on Friday at 1:00 p.m. at Montrepose Cemetery, Kingston. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, the ASPCA or Animal Kind in Hudson, NY.
