Laura Kennedy Maxson Mower, 100, a lifelong resident of Kingston, died Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at HealthAlliance Hospital Broadway Campus.
Born January 23, 1913 in town of Ulster, (Tollgate house) on Plank Rd (now known as Route 28), she was the daughter of the late Ambrose & Lucie Kennedy Maxson. She was a graduate of Kingston High School, class of 1933. Laura started working at the age of 15 at Kresge's five and dime store. From there she worked at Crown Blouse, Wonderlys, Stockade Vision, Hamilton Optical, before retiring from the Ulster County Department of Social Service. She enjoyed reading and gardening. Laura was married to the late Harold W. Mower, whom she wed on November 1, 1936.
Laura is survived by a daughter, Laura Lynn Mower Dutkiewicz (Patrick) of Port Ewen, a granddaughter, Terri Lynn Hamilton Valenti (Christopher Woolsey) and his two children, Christopher & Noelle Woolsey of Kingston, four great grandchildren, Patrick Christopher Valenti, Keith Charles Valenti, Laura Lynn Valenti and Joey Cody Valenti, four great great grandchildren, Nathaniel Kenneth Cole, Haylee Lynn Valenti, Anthony Christopher Valenti and Mollie Raine Valenti, a niece Elizabeth Laura Henninger, four nephews, David Valentine, Gary Valentine, Bruce Maxson and Norman Maxson, son in law, Keith Hamilton (Peggy), two sister in laws, Bette Maxson and Margaret Maxson.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Laura was predeceased by three brothers, Michael, Bruce and Rocky Maxson and a sister, Dorothy Valentine.
Services and interment will be private.
