Norman Sherry of Fairfield, CT, formerly of Kingston and Delray Beach, Florida, died Sunday, June 28, 2015 at Bridgeport Hospital. Born in Kingston, he was a son of the late David & Augusta Richter Sherry. Norman was the co- owner of the Broadway News Shop where he was well known and liked by his many customers and friends. He enjoyed fishing, dining out and spending time with his family. He was a Navy veteran of WWII and a member of the Jewish War Veterans. Norman was a real gentleman, who was loved by many. Norman is survived by his daughter, Ellen Ashkins and her husband Keith of Fairfield, CT, three grandchildren, David Sugerman, Sherry Ashkins and Elizabeth Ashkins and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Norman was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Adele Sherry, whom he married on August 30, 1950 and who passed in 2014, a daughter, Ruth Sugerman, who passed in 2011, a brother, Sheldon Sherry and a sister, Shirley Bahl. A Funeral Service will be conducted on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave at 11:00 AM with Rabbi Stephen Shulman, officiating. Interment, with military honors by Joyce-Schirick Post 1386 Color Guard, will follow in Montrepose Cemetery. The family requests that memorial donations be made to Jewish Senior Services, 175 Jefferson St., Fairfield, CT 06825.
