Richard Hickey, 85, of Hurley, New York, died on April 9, 2020 at the Ferncliff Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in Rhinebeck.
Richard was born in New York City, the son of Richard Hickey, Sr. and Catherine (O’Boyle) Hickey. He was a New York City cab driver and a natural story teller. He loved people and animals, and he always had the most amazing stories to share. He made us laugh and we will all miss that. Richard had a kind and generous heart and was always willing to help the most vulnerable among us.
Richard is survived by his brother, Patrick Hickey of Saugerties, N.Y., his sister, Margaret Schwartz of Walnut Creek, California, and his sister, Catherine Webster and brother-in-law, Bob Webster, of Sammamish, Washington. He is also survived by his beloved nephew, Stephen Hickey, of Brooklyn, N.Y. and four more nieces and nephews: Kenneth Webster, Debbie Kamila, Carolyn Webster, and Sarah Webster.
A very heart-felt thanks to all the nurses, nursing assistants, doctors and social workers at Ferncliff Nursing Home for all their loving care. God Bless!
