Stanley “Stash” Melnik, 88, a lifelong resident of Kingston, died Wednesday, October 7, 2021 at his home.

Born in Kingston, he was a son of the late Michael & Caroline Setera Melnik. Stanley was a veteran of the US Army, having served during the Korean Conflict. He was a life member of the Joyce Schirick VFW Post 1386 and a member of the White Eagle Benevolent Association.

Stanley was a loyal salesman for Spiegel Brothers Paper Company for more than 65 years. He loved his job along with his customers and he especially enjoyed his Hunter Mountain Route. He also had his own route in the city of Kingston such as the Triangle Inn, White Eagle Hall, Riccardi’s, The Pier, Broadway Joe’s and the VFW.

Every year he enjoyed fishing trips in Canada with his brothers and friends to fish the big lakes.

Stash was an avid sports fan who loved football. He also enjoyed going to the casinos with family and friends along with some local extracurricular activities, such as poker, pinochle, black jack, Oklahoma and especially shooting craps. He was known as “The Original Diceman”.

He was survived by many nieces, nephews and brother-in-law, Louis DiMicco. He is also survived by many loyal friends and neighbors who are like family.

Stanley was predeceased by the love of his life, his wife, Teresa Melnik who passed in 2016.

Stanley will be reposing at the Simpson-Hammerl Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave on Monday, October 11, 2021 from 4-8 PM. The Joyce Schirick VFW Post 1386 will conduct their service at 7:00 PM.

The Funeral Procession will form from the funeral home on Tuesday at 9:00 AM.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Church.

Interment with military honors by the Joyce Schirick VFW Post 1386 will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
